Health & Safety Advisor

Health and safety advisors or officers help prevent accidents, injuries and health problems in the workplace. You would create policies and make sure that employers and workers put them into
practice and follow safety laws. Your work would cover areas such as site safety, fire safety, occupational health, noise, safe use of machinery and control of hazardous substances.

Possible routes

  • Apprenticeship scheme

  • You could study an NVQ Level 3 or British Safety Council Level 3 in Occupational Health and Safety while working.

  • NEBOSH General Certificate

  • More advanced qualifications approved by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) can be taken to work as a full time Health & Safety Advisor/Officer.​
